Meet Dr. Hart, offering law enforcement coaching and police interview coaching

Hi, I'm Dr. Mac Hart. I am a Licensed Clinical Psychologist with 20 years experience as a clinician and law enforcement consultant - screening law enforcement recruits (police officers, deputy sheriffs, fire investigators, animal protection officers, game wardens, and 911 operators). I also evaluate veteran officers for specialty team assignment (S.W.A.T. Team, S.O.R.T, & Bomb Squad).

After completing college coursework at Franklin & Marshall College (Lancaster, PA), I worked as a crisis intervention specialist with the Police Social Work Unit of Chapel Hill Police Department (NC) for one year.

I returned to graduate school in 1975 and earned a Ph.D. at Case Western Reserve University (Cleveland, OH) in 1981. My interests in both law enforcement and hypnosis led me to conduct doctoral research in the area of eye witness testimony: "The Effects of Hypnotic Induction on Eye Witness Recall."

Prior to entering full-time private practice in 1985, I served as a Senior Psychologist at Henrico Area Mental Health Center (Richmond, VA) for nearly five years. During my employment with Henrico County, I enjoyed a close working relationship with the Henrico Division of Police & members of the Henrico Sheriff’s Department. Consultation duties included new officer selection, inservice training, and team-building activities.

I have served as the Board Psychologist on New Officer Selection Panels of both departments since 1984. I have interviewed well over 3,000 public safety officer applicants.
